Combat HF Biocide

In-can preservative for technical products

General Description

COMBAT HF biocide is a liquid combination of active substances to preserve aqueous products such as dispersion paints, emulsion paints, glues, cutting oils, thickening pastes and binder dispersions. Its active both in the aqueous phase as well as in the vapor phase above it.

COMBAT HF allows a cost-effective control of bacteria and fungi in closed systems.

100°C

Typical Properties

Forms clear solutions in all proportions with water, low alcohols, glycols, and glycol ethers.

Compatibility

COMBAT HF has no tendency to form color complexes with heavy metal salts. It is not compatible with substances sensitive to aldehydes.

Application and Activity

COMBAT HF was especially developed as an in-can preservative for use in dispersed or emulsified aqueous systems. It can be added at any phase of production. It is, however, recommended to add the necessary amount of COMBAT HF at the very beginning of the manufacturing process, where the conditions during production allow this.

COMBAT HF contains a combination of active substances, which provide a long-term protection in the aqueous phase and an additional protection in the vapor phase.

COMBAT HF is effective against bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative) under aerobic or anaerobic conditions. It is also effective against yeasts and molds commonly encountered in the described fields of application. The number of technical products in need of preservation is steadily increasing. Since it is impossible for a biocide supplier to check compatibility with all materials used in individual formulations, preliminary tests to check compatibility of COMBAT HF with the specific product are always necessary.

Dosage

The necessary dosage rate of COMBAT HF depends upon the degree of contamination of the raw materials and upon the susceptibility of the product to be preserved.

Degree of contamination and susceptibility can fluctuate seasonally. A periodical determination of germ counts helps considerably in choosing the optimum dosage rate.

Therefore, the concentration ranges listed below should be used for guidelines only:

Binders 0.05 - 0.15%

Dispersion paints, glues solutions 0.1 - 0.5%

In the case of special application, please consult either our Technical Service or our Biological Laboratories for assistance.

Handling

Please refer to the safety data sheet of this product for precise handling instructions.

The processing and use of industrial chemicals require adequate technical and professional knowledge.

In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing. In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.

The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the avoidance of accidents, must be observed.

Storage and Package

25 kg or 200 kg or 1000KG drums

COMBAT HF should be stored in closed original containers as cool as possible but not below 0°C.

COMBAT HF solidifies below 0°C. After warming up to room temperature the product becomes liquid again and after stirring, it can be used without any loss in effectiveness.Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
